Music Theory Southeast (MTSE) is a regional society whose primary goal is to foster the discipline of music theory throughout the region which includes the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Meetings
MTSE meets once a year on various campuses within its region. The Inaugural meeting was held on March 14, 1992 at Mercer University in Macon, GA. The most recent meeting was held at Emory University in Atlanta on March 9-10, 2012. The Program Committee was chaired by Daniel Jenkins (Univ. of South Carolina) and also included Evan Jones (Florida State Univ.), Karen Bottge (Univ. of Kentucky), Philip Rupprecht (Duke Univ.), Dave Easley (Flordia State Univ., student member), and Yayoi U. Everett (Emory University, ex-officio)
